No. Your journal entries are encrypted on-device with AES-256 before they ever touch our servers, so at rest they're stored encrypted in our database and unreadable to us. The one exception is when you use Iris: your entry is briefly decrypted on your device and sent over HTTPS to a server-side function to generate a response, then discarded. It is never stored in plaintext.
When you tap Ask Iris, your entry is sent to our AI provider through a comprehensive system prompt built on CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) principles, proxied through our own backend so the API key never lives in the app itself. Our AI provider operates under a strict no-training policy, your writing is never used to train AI models, and no conversation data is retained once the session is complete.
Unfortunately, no. Your passphrase is never sent to our servers — it lives only on your device. This is what makes InnerSight truly private, but it also means we cannot recover it for you. If you forget your passphrase, you will need to reset the app and start fresh. We strongly recommend storing your passphrase somewhere safe.
First, make sure you have an active internet connection and are signed in to the correct account. Then try closing and reopening the app. If the issue persists, ensure you are entering the same passphrase you used when you first set up InnerSight — entries are encrypted per passphrase, so a different passphrase will not decrypt existing entries. If you're still having trouble, contact us at support@innersightjournal.com.
Yes. InnerSight Pro includes PDF export for your entries. You can export individual entries from the entry detail screen. Free plan users can upgrade to Pro to unlock this feature.
InnerSight is free to use: journaling, encryption, and a limited number of Iris conversations are all included at no cost. InnerSight Pro is £7.99/month or £49.99/year, with a 7-day free trial, and unlocks unlimited Iris conversations, photo attachments, PDF export, and entry analysis.
InnerSight Pro is billed through Apple's App Store. To cancel, go to your iPhone Settings → tap your name → Subscriptions → InnerSight → Cancel Subscription. Your Pro access will continue until the end of the current billing period.
You can delete your account from the Account screen inside the app. This will permanently delete your profile and all stored (encrypted) data from our servers. Because your entries are encrypted and we don't hold the key, deletion is complete and irreversible. If you need help, email us at support@innersightjournal.com.
